Stourport Regatta Report

WBC's rowing squads had another successful regatta at Stourport the weekend of 13/14 August, with wins in sculling, sweep, pairs, doubles, 4's and 8s. There were wins for both the women's and men's squad, as well as three wins in mixed boats.

A number of members had competed in the City Regatta in London on Friday evening. Despite tired legs from being the fastest woman over 500m at that event Emma Raynor carried on her victorious weekend with three wins, whilst team mates Emma Tod, Lucy Rogers and Jess Fidler also picked up a trio of wins in the W2-, WIM2 4+ and Mx4+. There was also a good row from the ladies masters 8.

The men's crew of Phil Tonkin, Andy Colett, Mike and Pat Hourigan also competed at, and made the final of, City Regatta. They went on to continue their success on the water with another win at IM1, coxed by Ali Tonkin. The men's Novice 2x of Robin Spicer and Andy Wheeler made their debut with a closely fought race against a tough field, made all the more impressive considering that Robin has only been rowing for a few months, and the pair had never raced together before.
