Warwick Boat Club is primarily a family club. We have a strong junior coaching programme which remains active throughout the year. We are also recognised as a national accredited mini tennis centre.
We believe that The Warwick Boat Club’s future lies with the development of its young players and the club is firmly committed to youth development. This is evident in the array of courses and social fixtures that are set up by our Manager of Tennis - Gavin Henderson and Head Coach - Jenny Waggott.
Our comprehensive coaching programme offers opportunities for development of 5 to 10 year olds with mini green, orange and red tennis courses. For our 10 to 16 year olds we run development and progression courses. We aim to provide opportunities for our players to turn talent into achievement, whilst ensuring that our ethos remains that tennis should be fun and played in a relaxed family environment.
Our juniors have many opportunities for match play, including closed tournaments, box leagues, South Warwickshire squads and National junior club leagues. We give recognition to individuals who show commitment to improving their game with our “Player of the Term” scheme. We also have 2 very hard working junior tennis captains.
Warwick Boat Club is family orientated with emphasis on social interaction involving both parents and children. Gavin and Jenny regularly host barbeques, parent and child mix-ins and summer and Christmas parties.
All Junior Mix-Ins are organised by the Manager of Tennis or an appointed club representative

LTA Clubmark Accreditation
Warwick Boat Club is a Clubmark registered club
Achieving Tennis Clubmark status means the LTA endorses and supports our club’s tennis programme, policies and procedures, action and development planning, and club management particularly in relation to our work with the juniors. It offers the safeguards that all our coaches are CRB checked, have the relevant certification and that the club has agreed to abide by the current social legislation thus ensuring a secure environment for all children to enjoy and improve their tennis.
To achieve Clubmark the tennis section had to gather together all the required information in order to produce a detailed and comprehensive document that was presented to the LTA.
The criteria for achieving Clubmark status are as follows;
- Club Action Planning – The action plan provides a focus for the development of your club and provides you with tools to track progress.
- Tennis Programmes – Here you need to document your tennis programme listing all the tennis coaching and competition activities happening at your club for adults and juniors and who is responsible for ensuring they are delivered. You will need to deliver a full year round programme of coaching and competition from mini tennis red in order to achieve Tennis Clubmark.
- Policies and Procedures – You will need to demonstrate that your club has policies and procedures in place in the areas of child protection, equality and diversity and health and safety.
- Club Management – You will need to demonstrate that your club is managed and promoted in line with best practice.
Clubmark is a cross-sport quality accreditation for clubs. The LTA is an accredited partner of Clubmark. Tennis Clubmark includes all the key criteria of the national Clubmark programme but has also been made tennis specific to ensure it is a relevant accreditation scheme for our sport
This is an extract from the LTA introduction to Clubmark
Welcome
As outlined in the Blueprint for British Tennis, the LTA recognises the vital contribution clubs make to our sport across the country. To build on this, we are committed to supporting you in the development of your club’s tennis programmes, coaches and volunteers, and in the provision of competitive opportunities for your members, particularly juniors. Increasing junior competition is a key focus of the LTA and is critical if British tennis players are to succeed at a world-class level.
We know that there are hundreds of great tennis clubs across Britain delivering fantastic tennis opportunities to their members and non-members alike. We have developed Tennis Clubmark to recognise and reward clubs for the important contribution they make in developing tennis players and to British tennis in general.
Tennis Clubmark is the LTA’s club accreditation programme. All types of tennis club are eligible to apply, including traditional tennis clubs, school clubs and those operating within the commercial sector. Achieving Tennis Clubmark means the LTA endorses and supports the tennis programmes your club delivers on court, and the policies and procedures you have in place off court. These are crucial to ensuring that your club is managed effectively and that you provide a safe environment for junior members to enjoy and play tennis.
Tennis Clubmark provides a framework to help clubs improve themselves, and to ensure that their programmes, policies and procedures are all in line with best practice. This isn’t a tick box accreditation exercise. Rather, in achieving Tennis Clubmark you are demonstrating your contribution to the delivery of the Blueprint, by improving the quality of your club, the coaches that work within your club environment and the competition that your club delivers.
Congratulations on taking the first step on the pathway to securing Tennis Clubmark… and good luck!
