Ladies have fun on the river
Warwick Boat Club ladies enjoyed a bit of fun when they took to the river before their match against Warwickshire County Ladies.
County Junior Vice President and Boat Club member Mary Wheildon arranged for two gondolas from Warwick Boat Centre so that 20 ladies (including six from the Boat Club) could enjoy a trip on the river.
Mary did this after County Vice President Chris Cooke had told her that a river trip on a gondola was one of the items on her bucket list. The ladies also enjoyed tea in the clubhouse after playing a fun game of bowls, which included penalties such as having to bowl with the opposite hand to normal, after making a mistake.
The County Ladies won the four-rink triples match, which took place on the following day, by three rinks to one.
WBC’s only success came from Vivienne Griffin (skip), Jacqui Ashley and Jill Minett who won their rink 19-5. Sandra Dean (skip), Cosette Lawton and Diane Harvey lost 26-13 and Chris Hurst ((skip), Jenny Lamb and Celia Bellamy lost 34-8 against Chris Cooke’s rink.
Mary Wheildon, playing for the county, won her rink.
