I have recently been elected membership secretary to the club committee, a remit which covers all sections. I am passionate about tennis and want to see our tennis section prosper – despite these testing times, there is still scope for the club to grow and importantly, we have perfect foundations to attract and nurture top talent across the board. A large part of this role will be supporting other committee members and coaches, and taking into consideration the welfare of our membership. Based in the heart of Warwick, this club is part of a vibrant community and we should do what we can to encourage membership from all walks of life, including the young. Youth tennis is growing nationally and WBC needs to use its resources to also nurture this next generation of talent, which should, in turn, strengthen our community ties and the future of our club. I recently retired from Rolls-Royce after working in defence for 38 years, spending the bulk of my engineering career working as an intermediary between the business and the RAF, and leading teams.
I hope that some of what I have learnt over the course of my career – listening, advising, spotting opportunities and building relationships, is something I can bring to this club in the Membership Secretary (Tennis) role. I have played recreational and competitive tennis for more than 40 years, lastly representing Warwickshire over 50s. Now I am retired I have time to give
